It seems to be well made, so I assume it is keeping dust mites off of the mattress. It is indeed water proof. I tested it with a small cup of water before putting it on the mattress. Although it is a little plasticy, and sounds a little crinkly when handling it, I do not notice any crinkle sounds when I sleep on it.
The only reason I did not give this five stars is because I just got it on my bed last night! I had a roommate who traveled for work and he brought bed bugs into my house. Never had an experience with them in my life, but I will tell you, they are creepy, nasty little parasitic buggers. They bite and run (Fast), and sadly unless you are allergic to them, you may not even know you have them. I noticed red bumps on my arms but they did not itch, so I though nothing of it….until my son started getting them too, but big and itchy. Thats when I realized we had bed bugs. I started reading about the nasty little things and all the horror stories of people not being able to get rid of them or the astronomical expense they had to spare to get them exterminated. Im sorry, but I do not have $600 – $2000 to spend on extermination, so I decided to take a chance on these mattress covers. I bought one for my mattress and one for the box spring as well. With two people, it was very easy to put on. I also bought some powdered poison that I dusted under and around the bed before putting it all back together. I am overjoyed to report that neither of us saw a single bug after enclosing the mattress and box spring, nor did either of us have any new bites when we woke up this morning. Last night was the first night in 3 weeks I have been able to sleep without being paranoid or waking up with more bites. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am at the idea of starving these little insects to death. The mattress cover completely seals, it is zippered shut, and is actually very comfortable. Nothing like plastic crinkly sheets. I guess only time will tell, but so far, I have no complaints!
I purchased a queen size last evening; my son and I installed it while mattress was standing at the end of the bed; we found it very easy to put over the mattress; but we warn take Ur time zipping it up keep the zipper lined up straight and it will zip great. the material seems to be of good quality, but now we see how long it hold up with the tossing N turning my wife and I can produce Im sure the bugs cant get out or anymore get in. If it holds up good it will be worth the 3 times the money for ones we have ordered online in the past. thank U all.. ta ta for now

It was what we were told to buy by our friend who is an exterminator! I had to have three complete sets so it was a little expensive queen size at that.then the covers for pillows so I had to have twelve sets of pillow covers!it all started because we had lost our house to a fire Jan8 th . Our dear friends gave us a chair to use and it was loaded with bed bugs. Its been a mess but the bags were ideal. Yes I would recommend them to anyone whos got the problem. I bought this for my king mattress after discovering a bed bug problem that originated in my kids room. I bought cheap $8 vinyl covers for my box springs only to discover that there were holes in it and I continued to get bit so after getting rid of the box springs, I had no more bites or sightings of any bed bugs in my room. I do believe this cover helped to keep them trapped if they were in fact on my mattress. I bought them for my kids twin mattresses as well but it turned out that their wooden bunk bed was infested itself and even after many treatments they were still there so we got rid of their expensive bunk beds and bought new metal beds and we have been bed bug free since. Of course the whole house was treated as well and all clothing was heat treated & stored in plastic but we finally got back to somewhat normal lives although we are still cautious and continue to act as if they are still present by doing ongoing treatments to make sure they stay gone.
I used to think that, sleep tight. Dont let the bed bugs bite, was just like an old saying from a fairy tale and that bed bugs were some kind of wives tale, but I learned the hard way that the nasty critters are real and hungry! Beware. Walmart apparently restocks customer return bedding. The zipper was broken when I bought it. Didnt discover it until I was home. When I opened the box it looked like a customer return but I didnt know what a new one looked like so I wasnt sure. I put it all the way on my mattress before I discovered the zipper was broken. That is when realized my original assessment was probably correct. I dont know if it originally came with the broken zipper from the factory but It was broken and repackaged when I bought it. Who knows how long someone used it before they returned it to Walmart. All I know is Walmart put it right back on the shelf so BEWARE! Why does Walmart restock customer returns for bedding?!

Our neighbors moved out and their bedbugs came looking for their next meal at our apartment! After we cleaned everything, hot steamed and dried the mattresses, washed and dried everything we possibly could and stored everything in plastic totes, sealed stuffed animals and seasonal clothes in garbage bags sealed tight, we then put these on the beds. They do NOT keep bedbugs from crawling on your bed if you have them, even in the description of product it states it contains them and keeps them from getting into the mattress through the cover. Meaning they cannot nest on the mattress itself. This cover acheives this goal, but this goal only! Many people who wrote reviews more or less stated something to the effect of these covers will miraculously rid you of your bedbug problem. This is just not so. Not even close. They can and will nest on these cover and you will still be food for these disgusting creatures. You have to rid your house of them completly. What these covers do is save you the expense of having to buy all new mattresses if you are unfortunate to be infested with them. That is all.

So far so good. The reason I bought this Aller ease was because I had bedbugs. It was horrible to have them and I would not wish them on my worst enemy. It was a lot of work and I had to throw out my furniture. I cant afford new furniture and I dont want to take the chance on used furniture. That is al I ever had was used furniture. Nothing ever new. Had to throw out my bed as well. I got a new bed from my family. They all pitched in. I was happy for that. So I decided not to take chances on getting more bedbugs. Before I got my bed I found a nest of dead bedbugs on my floor after I took my dog for a walk. My screen door was bent. So I took a good hard look at the nest after I put them in a plastic bag. They were dead. Now the neighbor behind me has them. They go through your electric outlets so buy plugs to put in your outlets. It keeps out the creepy critters including bedbugs.. I bought two aller ease mattress protectors. I bought the one that keeps out dust mites, bedbugs, dust and its waterproofed too. So far so good.
